I got this drill from Ethan Johns at SWAT magazine via Todd Green’s website. It’s called the 10 Round Assault Course. You will need a range where you can move forward to do this one.
From the article, the rules are as follows:
Start from the holster at 25yd.
- On the buzzer, draw and fire two rounds (2).
- Advance to the 15yd line keeping gun safely in control, fire two (2) rounds.
- Advance to the 7yd line keeping gun safely in control, fire three (3) rounds.
- Fire three (3) more rounds while advancing forward from the 7yd line.
Score is simply listed as points and time. For example, the first time I ran this I scored 94 points in 13.40 seconds, so 94/13.40. Ethan recommends using 80 points in 20 seconds as a passing score.
The target used is a B8 Bullseye Replacement that can be downloaded and printed below:
I ran this one five times…three times with my Glock 21 out of my duty belt and holster and two times with my Glock 19 from concealed appendix IWB.
Round 1- Glock 21- 97 points- 22.26 seconds
Round 2- Glock 21- 95 points- 21.80 seconds
Round 3- Glock 21- 99 points- 16.77 seconds
Round 4- Glock 19- 95 points- 19.65 seconds
Round 5- Glock 19- 95 points- 17.18 seconds
If you have the ability to move forward of the firing line on your indoor range, I suggest you give this drill a try. It’s fun, fast, and provides an excellent amount of practice in a very short time. Let me know how you do!
