A reader of this site recently sent me a link to a very interesting new product. It is a handcuff key that is disguised as a bracelet. When worn, the key is completely undetectable.
The bracelet makes a handy place to hide the key and it’s very easy to access even with hands cuffed behind the back. I tried using the bracelt to release handcuffs placed both in front of my body and behind my back. I found it fairly easy to get out of the cuffs placed in front and virtually impossible to escape when my hands were behind my back. I could access the key, but I couldn’t manipulate it well enough to insert it into the lock hole. You may be more flexible than I am and find it easier.
The only downside that I found is that the bracelet is very difficult to put on yourself. Unless you are willing to spend several minutes fiddling with it, it’s better to have someone else put it on for you.
This little item would be great for anyone doing foreign travel with a kidnapping risk. It’s also important for all of you cops to know about so that you can remove one if you see it on a prisoner. The Covert Handcuff Key is available for less than $10 on eBay.
