My friends and business advisors have been telling me for years that I need to start a Patreon account to allow readers a convenient method to support my work. With revenues from advertisements and affiliate sales declining for the second year in a row, I’ve decided to create one.
I currently have a Paypal donation page (linked in the right sidebar) and I appreciate all of you who have donated in the past few years. I will keep that available if it is more convenient for you to use. Some folks don’t like Paypal’s politics and refuse to use it. I understand that perspective. Here’s another option.
I’ve set up an account on Patreon. You can easily subscribe to my work for as little as $1 a month.
I’ve seen lots of creative types provide special content for their patrons only. That’s not my style. I really want the information I provide to be shared with everyone. I want the whole population to benefit, not merely a select group of people who have enough disposable cash to donate some money to my site.
Instead of providing “patron only” content, I will thank my patrons by providing them with free digital copies of all my books as they are published.
My third-world travel safety book will be out soon. I plan to follow that one up with a book about travel scams and a book that covers essential travel apps you need to download on your phone. Both of those books will be out within the next year.
After the travel trilogy, I plan to publish a book about essential shooting drills, a book about choosing the best defensive carry holsters, and some anthologies of my best writing over the last eight years.
When I retire in May of 2020, I will also be publishing a tell-all entertaining book about my police career.
As each book is published I will send a free digital copy to all of my Patreon subscribers (as well as anyone who has donated to the old Paypal system in the last year).
I’ve published more than 1500 free articles on my site in the last eight years. It takes an enormous amount of time and energy to keep producing this amount of content. I truly appreciate your support. All donations will be earmarked to upgrade the website and pay the assorted hosting and website design costs.
Please don’t feel obligated to send me any money. I will continue putting out my content for free. I make a decent living. If you can’t afford $1.00 a month in donations, PLEASE DON”T SIGN UP. I don’t want the negative Karma from taking money from those who can’t afford to spend it. If you have some extra cash and choose to support my site, I thank you. If you don’t have the money, you should be saving it up for a rainy day instead of donating to my site.
Thanks again for all of your support to Active Response Training over the years.
