Several of my fellow instructors from TDI make an annual pilgrimage to the Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show every January. The SHOT Show is approximately 12 miles of displays from all the firearms and outdoors gear manufacturers. It’s traditionally where manufacturers introduce all their new gear.
My friend John Motil took lots of pictures of the items he thought were interesting and provided some commentary. If you missed the show and want to see some of the new items introduced, take a look!

The new SIG. Short reset on the trigger and minimum internal parts. Armorers courses will be available for LE. Not bad, hope it really isn’t $700.

The Glock 42.. if only there was .380 ammo to shoot in the darn thing. No extended mags from the factory.

If you watch TAC TV with Larry Vickers you might recognize this from his show from Russia/Italy. Arsenal Firearms has alloy and polymer frame models. Capacity is 17 rounds. American shooters won’t Ike the rear sight being part of the slide striker plate cover. The innovative part of the design is the barrel doesn’t tilt to unlock reducing flip, lock time, and feeding issues.

Magnetic belt carrier for X300 and Scout Light with 600 Lumen Fury head to provide more of a flood instead of a tight beam.

The coolest thing at SUREFIRE isn’t the ATV in their booth, it is the little polymer guard around the X300!!! I’ll have them for our rifle classes.

The LWRC direct impingement gun. The gas key is integral to bolt carrier just like their piston guns . They said that customers wanted their quality in a DI gun. They are hoping to hit the market around $1500!!

If a 5.56/.223 AK has been on your wish list the folks at Arsenal told me that the Bulgarian 5.56 line is closing down. I am sure other importers will have versions but I trust Arsenal and wouldn’t want to buy a parts gun that might not be mil-spec!

The key mod rail has taken the accessory market by storm. Companies are even offering it along side their proprietary rails. I was cautioned by one individual to look for models with a heat shield or risk burning your hand after a few mags. He said the smaller diameters put your hands closer to the barrel! This was a Noveske on display at Trijicon.

Too bad the G 41 is a Gen 4. So of you like the G 34/35 here is the .45 of your dreams. Notice the slide isn’t lightened like the 9mm and .40!

GEMTECH Halo in titanium. It now fits in the BFA slot on any stock A2 flash hider and can be disassembled for cleaning.

New from Big Green. I am not sure the bugs are worked out of the R51. I had the slide hang up on all 3 display guns and the trigger isn’t that great! I say pass on this for a year until it is refined.
Thanks to John for providing the photos and commentary! If you need any gear (John is a dealer for Surefire, Aimpoint, Blue Force Gear and many other higher end suppliers), send John an email at motilj45 at yahoo dot com.
