Here are a few links to articles and videos I found interesting this week and want to share. Some are intellectual. Some are informative. Some are just fun. If you have some free time, check them out this weekend.
Advanced Man Skills
“Character is what makes a man, and character is only learned from brutally hard life experiences. Reading this list won’t teach you how to be a man, it can only encourage you to seek out the experiences you need so you can learn how to be a man.”
Readiness Considerations
Chris Fry of MDTS writes a great article about awareness and how to enhance personal readiness.
21 AR Grips compared
Nice comparison of 21 different aftermarket AR-15 grips.
Around the Water Cooler: Ken Hackathorn and the State of the Industry
Very interesting interview with legendary trainer Ken Hackathorn. I’ve shot against Ken in a local pistol match for the last 10 years or so. He normally kicks my ass, but my claim to fame is that I did beat him…once! Ken is a great guy and an excellent trainer. This interview highlights some of his ideas that are less than mainstream in the shooting community.
10 Reasons Why You Fail
“Simple fact of life: if you want to do something incredible, something that makes you stand out above the rest, then you have to become comfortable being different from the rest. People will think you’re weird, crazy, selfish, arrogant, irresponsible, obnoxious, stupid, disrespectful, fat, insecure, ugly, shallow, etc. Those closest to you will often become the harshest. If you have weak boundaries or are not confident with your own ideas and desires, then you’re not going to make it very far”
TRIGGERSTRIPE DRILL PART 1
Travis Haley and Ron Avery demonstrate one of the most valuable shooting drills I’ve ever seen. I learned this drill from Ron himself in a class I took from him. I’ve used it for several years. If you are shooting low and to the left, this will fix you up!
