Here are a few links to articles and videos I found interesting this week and want to share. Some are intellectual. Some are informative. Some are just fun. If you have some free time, check them out this weekend.
Sleep Warm While Camping With These Ten Tips
Great advice about how to sleep warm. I’ve used all these tricks when sleeping outside in cold weather and they all work well. It’s good to know these techniques, even if you don’t camp. In a natural disaster, survival situation, or EMP event you may not have quite the same resources as you currently enjoy.
FIFTY-CENT COVERT KNIFE
Speaking of coins…this might be the most useful one yet! Circular knife blade hidden inside US 50 cent piece. It can be used for escape purposes if you are tied up. Cops should probably be aware of this thing as well.
Ecstasy effective in treatment of lingering PTSD, new study finds
Interesting new study on the use of MDMA for PTSD. From the study: “83 percent of participants receiving MDMA-assisted psychotherapy no longer qualified for a PTSD diagnosis two months after treatment. There was no evidence of harm associated with the drug, and none of the participants developed a substance abuse problem with any illicit drugs as a result.”
One caution for anyone looking to self medicate….76% of pills sold as MDMA on the street were NOT just MDMA. 40% did not contain MDMA at all and were generally other stimulant chemicals that are cheaper to produce.
Shooting is simple
Excellent commentary about internet gun forum “knowledge”.
You WILL fight Zombies or Become One!
Some good strategies for remaining low profile and identifying potential allies during the first days of any crisis situation.
One Bullet Can Kill, but Sometimes 20 Don’t
Fascinating article about how people can survive multiple gunshot wounds. The primary lesson to be learned is that “If a gunshot victim’s heart is still beating upon arrival at a hospital, there is a 95 percent chance of survival.” If you are shot, don’t stop fighting. Most gunshot wounds are not fatal.
A Knife
She has good taste! A nice review of my LDK design and the larger Ka-Bar TDI knife from A Girl and Her Gun.
