The Dangerous Ambiguity Of Qualification Drills
I hope all my police readers realize that every single cop who has ever been killed in a gunfight was considered “qualified” by his agency.

Do Women Actually Like Nice Guys? – Dr Robert Glover
This podcast is an excellent self improvement resource for my male readers, but I think females will find the perspective valuable as well. Near the end of the podcast, they were discussing how men should be more playful in their interactions with women to spark polarity. Dr. Glover made an interesting statement: “Only the irrational behavior survives.”
He used an example of funeral eulogies to illustrate his point. At a funeral, no one ever talks about the deceased in terms of being a good worker or spouse. They talk about the memorable irrational actions that the person took that led to funny stories and positive outcomes.
It caused me to think a bit. Almost all my good stories and life experiences come from irrational decisions. I hope you all have a completely irrational weekend.
And on the topic of relationships, I think Is there a modern mating and dating crisis? is the most accurate (even if painfully blunt) assessment of the modern dating environment that I have seen in some time.

Skull-Stomping Sacred Cows: Doctor’s Notes Don’t Apply
“If you can’t do a single full-body push-up, let alone 10, 20, 30, 40, etc, and you’re a grown-ass man, you are not “prepared” for a goddamned fist fight in the Wal-Mart parking lot, let alone a firefight in the Apocalypse.
Just do your fucking PT. Stop making excuses.”
Turning Your AR-15 into an M-16
It isn’t quite as easy to make your AR-15 fully automatic as the internet suggests.
The Myth of the Gray Man
I’m a 270-pound power lifter. I attract attention wherever I go. I’m not a good “gray man.” With that said, I am very cognizant not to make my appearance even more noticable by wearing the things Dave lists below.
What dressing like a gray man actually looks like isn’t a list of specific items but instead a moving target that depends on what other people do in the same area. However, you can make a list of what to avoid if you don’t want to look like a stereotypical gun owner, aside from avoiding camo. While none of these are a sure thing, and this list is far from exhaustive, they’re all positive indicators:
Any item with overt gun/knife branding
T-shirts with American flags on the sleeve
Wraparound sunglasses
G-Shock watches
Trail running shoes or “tactical” boots
Paracord bracelets
“Tactical” pants or shirts
Visible knife clips on pockets (especially multiples of them)
Limited Vision, Limited Interest in Understanding American Gun Culture
The disappointing reality of modern communication.

Sling Bags: A Practical Solution for Carrying Essentials
While I don’t often carry my gun in a sling bag or backpack, I do think it’s a viable option for some folks. If you want to learn how to do it right, Bryan McKean and I will be teaching a “Covert Carbine” class in Ohio in May. I hope to see some of you there.

Will You Use Your CCW If You Are Attacked?
“Although skill, tactics and gear are important components in prevailing against an unprovoked attack, they do indeed take a back seat to mindset. If your head isn’t in the game, honed skill and the best gear money can buy will not save your bacon. A winner’s mindset is comprised of two elements: awareness and willingness.”
